What it is
The AHS Instructional Rockstar Badge is the next step on the Instructional Continuum following successful completion of the AHS Instructional Ninja Institute.
Who is ready
Any AHS teacher who has earned the Instructional Ninja Badge and is looking for the next step in their development as a leader and innovator in their teaching practices.
What do I have to do?
The driving force behind the requirements for the Rockstar Badge is professional freedom of choice. All Ninja graduates receive a solid foundation in instructional practices and technology integration, however where they go next in their professional growth is as unique as the individual teacher. Rockstar honors the uniqueness of every teacher by affording maximum freedom of choice in the following 6 required components:
- Attend any 5 Tech Tuesdays
- Choose one tech tool as an area of specialty.
- Choose one site-wide CCSS instructional strategy implemented in the 13-14 or 14-15 school year. See Component #3 on the Rockstar Teacher checklist for a list of the 6 strategies.
- Complete a 3-minute Demo Slam on either the chosen tech tool or instructional strategy. This may be done either at a staff PD day or a monthly staff meeting.
- Complete a lesson portfolio on either the chosen tech tool or instructional strategy (whichever was not chosen in the Demo Slam component.
- Maintain a professional blog via either Blogger (Google App connected to your school Google account) or Twitter feed. The blog should include both informational and reflective posts surrounding the topic of best practices for instruction and technology integration.
BECAUSE ALL NINJA BADGES COME WITH LIFETIME TECH SUPPORT...
As always, Sheryl and Erica are available to help with any of the above components.
What is the timeline?
Unlike Instructional Ninja, completion of the requirements for the Rockstar Badge may be completed on a teacher's own personal timeline. There are no deadlines. The badge may be earned at any time.
